Maureen FitzSimons's early accomplishments in the arts of performing, and which we now know by the name of Maureen O'Hara, would certainly qualify her for being in the "child prodigy" category. This is a natural characteristic for a girl who was of Irish origin, and who was nurtured in her early years by talented family members and parents. Maureen came to this loving haven, August 17, 1920. She was raised by her parents as well as family members. Marguerita L. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons ran a Dublin business, and had shares in the Irish soccer team Shamrock Rovers. Maureen FitzSimons is the 2nd daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy FitzSimons, Florrie Fitzsimons Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons rounded out this wonderful family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and played rough, athletic games when she was young. This passion and her gift for performing was remarkable. It was evident when she was awarded every Feis in drama and theatre that Ireland had to offer. She was accepted at the Abbey Theater by age 14, and she pursued her dreams of operatic and classical singing and theater.
